Demartravion “Trey” Reed, a 21-year-old student at Delta State University, was tragically found dead on the university's campus early Monday morning, September 15, 2025.
University officials confirmed the discovery, which has deeply shaken the Delta State community. Reed’s body was found around 7 a.m. near the pickleball courts on campus, hanging from a tree. The university immediately responded, and local authorities were notified.
While the cause of death has not been officially determined, initial reports indicate that there is no suspicion of foul play. Reed’s body has been sent to the Bolivar County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is collaborating with local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
In the wake of the tragedy, Delta State University closed temporarily, and students and faculty were given space to grieve. University President offered condolences to Reed’s family and friends, noting that while the campus remains safe, this loss has deeply affected everyone.
